It all started with a desperate need to bring hope to my husband. He was born with a severe dry skin condition that made it hard if not impossible to do certain things. His skin would dry up, thicken, crack, and bleed; no matter what he used, it stayed the same.
The more lotions and creams we tried the less hopeful we felt. It just felt like each time we found something that we thought was going to work, everything came crashing down fast.
One day I decided that I was going to try and make a lotion for him that would keep skin moist all day long without any need for reapplication. I did a lot of research. Since this was going to be something he used every single day, I wanted it to be natural and safe but also effective. It took several tries. Actually, it took so many tries that at some point I almost gave up.
Finally, after a year of so much tweaking this and that, I came up with a formula that kept his skin super moist all day long and it felt soft also. It was a huge moment for me. He has been using these creams for about seven years now.
After the success with that first cream, I fell in love with formulating hair and skincare products.
I chose A Mermaid’s Grace because when I was finally successful with that first cream, it changed everything for my husband. A whole new world opened to him and it was because of Grace (not me). The only place my husband felt comfortable was when he was in some kind of water be it a shower or a pool. But the consequences of enjoying those few moments were insurmountable. It felt like for every minute he enjoyed under the cover of water, he suffered a hundred times.
When I was doing my research, I learned about all kinds of ingredients used in cosmetics that are toxic. Since we were and still are using the products I create, it was imperative that I use only safe ingredients. None of our products have:
